UX Research for a Food Delivery App
“To provide insights into the different user types and create a user-centered design that would allow the app to stand out in a highly competitive market, dominated by established players such as DoorDash, Uber Eats & Swiggy.”
Primary Research & Competitor Analysis
Primary Research: Survey Creation and Deployment
The first part of the primary research involved designing a user survey to gather qualitative and quantitative data on users’ preferences, challenges, and motivations related to food delivery apps. The survey was tailored to uncover pain points, identify desired features, and understand user behaviors.
Competitor Analysis: Identifying Market Leaders
In parallel, we conducted a thorough competitor analysis to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, and strategies of the top food delivery apps in the market. This step was essential for identifying the competitive landscape, understanding market trends, and recognizing areas for innovation.
User Persona & Empathy Map Creation
User Persona Creation
User personas are fictional, generalized representations of different segments of our target audience. They are crafted based on the data gathered during the survey phase and aim to capture key characteristics, motivations, frustrations, and needs of real users.
Empathy Map Creation
To complement the personas, we created empathy maps to further dive into the emotional side of the user experience. The empathy map provides a deeper understanding of what users think, feel, say, and do during their interactions with food delivery apps. It also helps us identify the pain points and gains that users experience while using the product.
